ARTISTS WHO USE MAPS IN THEIR ART

Matthew Cusick

More than ten years ago, he discovered a box full of old maps in his studio. The artist then began to experiment and was immediately fascinated with the possibility of creating his own places and time zones with just a few snips. Since then, he has created an extensive body of work that has been exhibited internationally and reproduced in publications such as The New York Times, Harpers Magazine, and Art in America

Karen O'Leary

She began cutting paper maps as part of a project for her fifth-year thesis in architecture at Virginia Tech, and has been fascinated by creative cartography ever since.

Susan Stockwell

Susan Stockwell's work takes many forms from small studies to large scale installations, sculpture, drawings and collage. It is concerned primarily with transformation and with issues of ecology, geo-politics, mapping, trade and history.

Maria Svarbova

Maria Svarbova is a Slovakian photographer who takes surreal photographs of people in Socialist-era public spaces. With her signature minimalist style , she focuses on color , composition , and atmosphere to harmonize the body with the surrounding architecture. The reason why I interested in her work is that her work makes me thinking about Ren Hang ’ s work , which is one of my favorite photographer.
